Did you read my 8 B.L.O.G.G.I.N.G Lessons? Well, I’m taking it a step further. I learn everyday, and in this post, I’ll be sharing what social media taught me about losing weight. Enjoy it!
Looking at the paradigm of Social Media Marketing, one might infer that your decision-making skills and ability to overcome challenges is your driving force behind the success that you can gain from it.
The common strategy of success in Social Media and Weight Loss
As people struggle with social media platforms because of a lack of passion in sharing and communicating, much of the same can be related to weight loss in general.
Here are 10 life lessons that I learned from my experience working in Social Media and how it helped me with my weight loss plans:
1. I learned to write down my goals.
I learned the discipline that came with visualizing and listing the things I wanted to accomplish. When I wrote down my weight loss goals it began to get real and take shape.
2. Explore the right avenues.
You need the right kind of diet and exercise regimen to be successful at your goal. Not every diet invented in the planet will serve your purpose or help you stick to your weight loss plan, just like not every kind of Social Media medium is right for you. Others will choose messaging on Twitter, while others will thrive on Facebook.
3. Focus on the end goal.
Impulse is a major driving force in every person and because there are so many things that can go wrong when it comes to dieting or marketing online you need to clear your head and focus on the end goal rather than temporary distractions which may hinder you from losing weight or achieving your marketing goals.
4. Set a Timeline.
You need to make sure that your goals coincide with attainable timelines so that you don’t get frustrated when you hit a bump. There is no need to do all the milestones at one time, find your pace and do it carefully yet surely.
5. Be humble.
Arrogance is your number one enemy when it comes to sticking to weight loss plans or internet success. People generally let their ego take over when they are given advice about how to lose weight or make money online and this becomes a detriment to their ultimate goal.
6. Use patience and discipline.
It’s not enough to motivate yourself and keep trying; you need to do the right things to see the right results. Weight loss and social media marketing can be tricky, which is why you have to be prepared to do what is necessary and that requires a lot of patience and discipline.
7. Invest in tools and applications.
Get yourself the help you require and invest in people’s success stories and devices to get you to your goal. There is nothing wrong in following the footsteps of someone who has already lost weight if it will get you to your ideal physique. Article writing, keyword research, email marketing, guest posting or any other marketing activity requires an investment. Don’t be scared to spend money on worthwhile ventures. It’s important to your success.
8. Ask your friends to become your fans!
Keep your friends updated about the progress you make with your weight loss effort by providing them with helpful information that may also help them become healthy and fit.
This will help you get the motivation you need to stay true to your weight loss deliverable’s. In the case of Social Media, it is a good idea to find mentors who have already achieved the level of success you wish to attain and ask for advice and support.
9. Learn to outsource.
For me this is probably one of the biggest secrets I have learned in the weight loss and online marketing arena and I think it is worth elaborating on it. When it comes to Social Media, outsourcing is straight forward.
Through Elance you can hire a virtual personal assistant who will help you follow people, reply to your friends comments, schedule your Tweets, Like your blogs posts and a lot more. But how do you outsource activities such as shopping for healthy food and preparing healthy meals?
Thankfully, there are many companies whose mission is to design the most nutritional recipes with the help of qualified dietitians, put together the most delicious meals using the expertise of some of the world’s best chefs, package them and deliver them to your door. For example, in the USA and Canada home meal delivery services like Bistro MD and Diet to Go will send you enough food for 6 meals a day. You can choose between 5-day or 7-day packages.
10. Help others.
Your confidence and karma will definitely get a great boost if you devote some of your personal time to reaching out and helping others who may be struggling with their weight loss. It can be as simple as working out together or lending an ear to hear about some frustrations they may have encountered while dieting.
