Your blog’s traffic sucks, right?
No, you’re not lazy; you’re hardworking, smart and determined to grow a better blog.
But nothing is happening yet – the right people are not visiting or reading your posts.
Have you done anything wrong or what are you failing to do?
Oh, it seems you’re the only one reading your posts and maybe your red-headed grandma. Lol!
Ride with me as we change this ugly experience. Trust me, it’s no joke. If your blog continues to lack targeted readers, and customers, you might be forced to give up.
Please hold on a bit, I’ve got some 3 shocking truths to catapult you to the peak of your blogging career.
1. You don’t know your audience
As simple as knowing the audience is, a lot of bloggers don’t even know who they’re marketing to. Is your business blog a B2B or B2C system? Proper definition would help eliminate the guess work and provide a viable platform for attracting the right audience.
Some folks started blogging because there School mate or someone they know is successful with his or her blog.
Unfortunately, these copycats (sorry) didn’t research the market to know who would be reading his blog. He wakes up every morning, thinks of one idea and wrote a post on it. Is that what your audience wants at the moment? You can’t give what you don’t have. If your niche is internet marketing, it’s going to be pretty difficult defining your audience.
Not everyone cares about list building, so, why attract such persons to your blog – wrong approach. The simple solution is this: henceforth, research to know who you’ll be targeting and channel your marketing contents to suit them. Write posts that suit these people and your blog will grow exponentially.
2. You’re too busy with social media
I’m waiting for someone to throw a stone at me – what is Michael telling me? Are you saying social media is worthless?
No, I can’t say that, not in this social world where you must belong – but look at your activities critically and analyze the success rate. What has twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook or the latest Pinterest done for your blog? How many visitors did you attract to your blog through these networks? From your heart, can you advice your spouse, or protégé to pursue social media marketing?
See, stop wasting time tweeting and retweeting. There are other things you can do to bring avid readers to your blog. Instead of me spending 2 hours on Twitter and doing things that are not meaningful, I would rather write two articles (650 words each) and submit to other blogs with a link back to my blog.
This will definitely bring results faster and consistently if you optimize for less competing keywords.
Social media marketing is not a hit-and-run system, you need to spend time mastering it and it works best after your business is off the ground-floor. If you’re just starting out online, focus your energy and time writing and optimizing to rank highly in search engines.
3. Your Headline Is Boring
Is the headline more important than the content itself? Not really!
But without hooking and getting someone to read your article and blog post, how you can engage them. The first assignment for every blogger is to capture with the headline.
If your headline is weak, you’ll discourage repeated visitors and frighten new readers. I recommend you study copywriters’ work to learn how they craft great headlines – you can do this at leisure (when you’re free).
In 2007, when I was actively writing articles and syndicating around the web, I didn’t know that headlines have rules and secrets for writing them. With over 700 articles I published at various content farms, there were little or no results.
The irony is this: when your blog eventually ranks on Google first page, it’ll make no difference because no one is going to click. You might appear at #1 and still struggle to attract traffic.
The best headline that works are those that have strong benefits. Curiosity will also make your headline clickable. When you improve your headline writing skills, you’ll attract more targeted traffic and readers easily.
See: blog readers will fall in love with your posts if you can craft excellent headlines. It’s no brainer and you don’t need any College Degree to capture eyeballs – read, learn from other people.
When you read a post and the headline strikes your mind, study the headline to pick up gems – that’s my advice.
