My readers are mostly bloggers and writers. The other day, I sent a poll to them to know the challenges they’re facing.
I was shocked to know that out of 325 who answered my poll and emailed me, only 32 actually makes above $500 per month.
Others are merely surviving. This is dangerous, considering the fact that these bloggers often write about make money online.

1. You don’t sell a product
This is obvious, right?
But it’s important and one of the things bloggers neglect. Some people complain that they aren’t making any money online. When I visit their blogs and browsed through, I couldn’t locate a single income generating offer.
Come to think of it, how on earth are you supposed to earn from your blog, if you don’t have a product to sell? See, the product doesn’t have to be yours – an affiliate product can do the job well.
The bottom line is to monetize your blog with viable products, whether it’s your product or someone else’s.
2. Your voice is too strong
Discover your voice. Use it.
I’m sure you’ve read countless blog posts in that line? Now, there is nothing wrong with knowing your voice and using it to convey your message. But it becomes a problem when you’re too strong. You don’t consider anyone, not even the stranger who stumbled at your blog.
This issue is particularly common with bloggers who review affiliate offers. The last time I read Hostgator review by an upcoming blogger, the voice was terrible. The reviewer was literally asking us (readers) to take action now, before Hostgator goes on holiday. Lol!
Take it easy on your readers. Give them a listening ear. The more you listen, the better your changes at converting them into buyers. Be personal, instead. Relate with your target audience as though they’re your siblings. Don’t be too strong – think about it.
3. Your blog is ready, but you’re not
Sounds weird, isn’t it?
I’ve seen fantastic blogs. Great designs, good products to back it up and well-placed optin box for email capture. And if your blog looks exactly like the above, congratulations!
You just have to take few steps to make your blog a money maker. How do you achieve that?
Get ready to write quality and exclusive contents. Blogging as a tool is quite unique from other tools like social media, or SEO. With a blog, you can attract the right audience, solve their problems and recommend good products to them.
Yes, readers already know you’ve a good product. They’ve literally fallen in love with your blog design the very first day, but that’s not their primary objective. They have a problem and you’re the one to address it. You can’t address it outright with an e-book, but with a blog post.
Make the post exceptionally helpful. What else?
Be transparent, don’t be scared
When you recommend affiliate products, do you reveal to readers that you’d earn a commission if you buy? It’s important that you open up.
Blogging is about helping others, in your own way without sounding like a salesperson. Even if you’re yet to use the affiliate offer, make it clear on your review.
