You have tried your possible best to write quality post with speed and accuracy, but it seems something is wrong with you. You’re even thinking of taking a writing course, just to beef up your speed. A lot of bloggers and web writers have this ‘one’ problem.
Meeting clientele expectations and exceeding it is what we all aim for as service providers. But how do you do that, considering the amount of distractions online? Well, I’ll tell you a little story to clarify this post.
I couldn’t imagine myself writing for the web. In fact, I hate to stay idle and type; it gets me irritated and bored all day. Oftentimes, life will not leave you untouched. Something must happen in your life to trigger a permanent and significant change.
How My Writing improved in 30 days
I didn’t enroll into any writing course; neither did I buy an e-book to improve my writing. Although, I had a couple of free reports on article marketing and social media marketing – but barely read them.
My saving grace came when I attended Writer’s Workshop in my city, and the Speaker said something phenomenal which has changed the way I write, how I research topics and the way I jam my keyboard.
“Do you want to improve your writing, automatically become alien to grammatical and spelling errors, write at WARP speed and achieve your writing goals? then “write consistently.” (Phil Ilobae)
Write consistently – Can you do that?
I know you were expecting me to perform some writing magic, but we can’t shy away from the fact. Writing consistently is the only solution to improving. I’m yet to see any successful freelance writer or content marketer who doesn’t write on weekly basis if not daily.
When you write every day, the future of your career becomes clearer. Then, you’ll understand how words are framed and the right way to harness sentences that gladdens the heart of a reader. When I started writing, I did it with half-baked mind and the consequence, was, little or no significant result.
Prolific writers are made – you can become the next writer to be reckoned with – and this can be made possible when you write like a maniac. I mean, write every day.
What You Don’t Know About Writing
Writing is an art, and there is a secret to it. A lot of people struggle all day to craft a catchy headline and trigger action, and they wonder why this is happening. The reason is right here, those people have neglected ‘writing.’ They’ve refused to sit down and write until the creative ability enters their blood.
Yes, a time would come in your life when writing becomes ‘second nature.’ Like me, I literally write at will. It’s good to read as much as possible, but nothing is as powerful as consistent writing.
Even when the so-called writer’s block is obstructing your creativity, do not succumb to it. Writer’s block doesn’t exist except in your mind. You thought it’s there, and so, you left your PC and walked out of the room, only to come back with nothing to write about. Does it mean you lied at first?
No, you didn’t lie, but you weren’t saying the truth either!
All you’ve to do is write it. Find something to write about. It might not be in your niche, or a paid project, but find something and start jamming that keyboard. The goal is to ‘stamp’ the art of crafting words, mastering sentence structure and engaging readers with your content in your mind. You can’t learn these virtues in College, but only when you sit down and write.
In as much as reading opens your vocabulary and supplies valuable ideas, writing consistently would explode your fingers (typing speed), challenge your creative instinct to supply life transforming ideas and lead you gradually into the wordsmith’s dormitory.
You Need Speed To Succeed In This Age
Speed is what you need to succeed online. I don’t know what business model you’re called into, without speed, I wonder how you’re going to meet-up with deadlines, dazzle clients and win more paying projects. I believe every blogger should render a service and not just relying on Pay per click ads that pays peanuts.
As I write this article, I’ve written over 420 quality guest posts and they’re all published in A-list, and upcoming blogs. Do you know how long it took me to write all those?
I started blogging in July, 2011 but discovered how powerful guest posting is, in August, of the same year. That’s approximately 8 months (420+ quality guest posts).
I don’t believe in writer’s block. People say it exists, but I don’t want to feed that into my mind. And so, I discipline myself to write every day, or at least 3 times weekly. Reading is equally important, but you need writing-ability to extract your reader-base and help make the world a better place with words.
Do you type slowly? Don’t condemn yourself and give up. My advice is simple: keep writing and don’t stop reading. Both are like two Siamese Twins that cannot be separated.
